Wow! It’s great to live in a nation where we can gather openly to celebrate our country’s beginnings, isn’t it? The Fourth of July holiday celebrations and fireworks were spectacular! The weather was perfect and we at Benjamin’s Beaver Creek Resort and The Natural golf course hope everyone had a wonderful time for their holiday activities.
The heart of summertime — mid-July and August — is upon us. Travelers are everywhere, enjoying their vacations. Here at Benjamin’s Beaver Creek, summer fun continues. The water slide welcomes kids daily, and the evenings bring fragrant campfire smells. There were a couple of hole-in-ones at the putt-putt golf course last week, and “you-know-who” had a smile on his face — and a sunburn too! Everyone seemed to truly enjoy the hay rides and the waterslide was met with boisterous laughter and excitement!
Members, remember that cabins are available for rent to your family or friends who wish to enjoy the resort with you. Check with the registration office for information on how to make the arrangements.
Thank you to all of our members and guests who were so cooperative and understanding during our road paving project. It was all so worth it, wasn’t it? The resort has never looked so beautiful!
Who can help but admire the beautiful flower gardens scattered around the Resort? In case you don’t know, it is Doris — the ‘flower lady’ — we can thank for the colorful, well-planned flower gardens. If you haven’t already done so, be sure to thank Doris for her many, many hours of loving care she puts into creating our enjoyment each summer.
August brings out the best in vacationers. There are many area activities for getting the most out of your vacation. Check in at the Benjamin’s Country Store or the registration office for suggestions for the time and dates you have available. Among the many attractions in the area, downtown Gaylord hosts a Farmer’s Market on limited Wednesdays in July, plus each Saturday. Check for times locally.
What’s happening in that large area at the top of the hill? You may have wondered this, too. The former storage area is being re-designed and re-purposed with irrigation system and grass planting to create a meadow for multiple uses. A wedding in late July is the first activity planned for the area. As well as being more attractive, the grassy area allows for possible expansion in the future.
It’s summertime at Benjamin’s Beaver Creek and The Natural, and there’s plenty to do! Whether your choice is to be active or to relax, we’re here for your enjoyment.
Summer fun begins in the water: at our indoor pool or at the water slide, or in the hot tub — even at The Natural over water hazards. Summer fun continues with putt-putt golf at Beaver Creek and golf at The Natural.
Relaxation is easy at the Resort and Golf Course. Enjoy cool summer mornings at your campsite or cabin watching the dew evaporate while the wildlife entertains you. Your sunny, warm summer afternoon is the ideal time to walk the Resort grounds and visit with your neighbors, walk your pet, improve your golf game at The Natural driving range, or wander into the camp store for a delicious ice cream treat.
You may or may not have noticed the activity at The Natural of rebuilding the maintenance shop which was destroyed by fire on St. Patty’s Day this past spring. Crews are working daily to re-create the large building, which housed equipment, carts, repair facilities, and supplies for the golf course operations.
Evenings spent around a campfire bring out stories and laughs from the youngest to the oldest person enjoying summer fun. S’mores are optional, yet delicious! Have you had your campfire yet this season? Firewood is available for purchase at the General Store.
With the 4th of July holiday quickly approaching, it’s a great time to come out to Benjamin’s Beaver Creek. The fireworks over Lake Otsego are scheduled for Saturday, July 6. It’s a real treat to view those fireworks from your lounge chair viewing point in the Resort parking lot. Plans are in the making for kids’ activities as well as family activities for the days and evenings of the holiday week.
During July, Gaylord’s 49th annual Alpenfest is running July 16 – 20th this year. This is a fun event, and is easily accessible from Beaver Creek’s location. Checking online will provide details of daily events for planning your days of fun.
It’s never a good thing when it rains in January. However, the trails seem to have weathered the storm. The fog was dangerously dense last night, and the ride home from the resort was very disorienting. The fog has now left, and the weatherman is calling for 12 inches of snow by Friday. The children are home from school today, and we are under a lake effect snow advisory until midnight. I’ll post an update as soon as I start to see flakes falling.
With all of the weekend traffic, I was hesitant on the trail conditions today. However, they seemed to have weathered the traffic very well. I passed the groomer on trail 7 this morning and there is still enough snow for him to work with.
The traffic this weekend was intense. There were sleds out all day and they were single file for miles. Between the regular traffic, the cancer run, and the additional traffic for the snocross and snow drift, there wasn’t a quite moment.
The weekend traffic is currently heading home, so if your looking for a peaceful ride, now is your chance.
